Marble

Marble is the geological name for massive, compact limestone which has been completely re-crystallized by heatgranite1 and pressure, capturing many foreign substances, thus creating a unique variety of colors and veining (minerals). Marble is simply changed limestone, or to be more specific, metamorphic limestone. The veining which is caused by dissimilarity of materials, often represents areas of weakness within many marbles. Like numerous other stones such as Calcareous stones, travertine and onyx, Marble is also composed chiefly of calcium carbonate.

Marble can be polished and used for architectural and ornamental purposes. Its color varies from white to black, being sometimes yellow, red, and green. Marble is sometimes beautifully veined or clouded. It is preferred for floorings and accentuates the living sphere with its sheer opulence.

Marble stone is relatively softer than other stones and offers less stain resistance. Thus it requires careful maintenance and should be treated as fine furniture. Marble is susceptible to damage from citric acids, alcohols and oils. Spills should be wiped up immediately. Treated properly, marble will remain elegant for decades.

Sandstone

Sandstone is a coarse-grained sedimentary rock formed by the consolidation and compaction of sand and heldteakwood together by a natural cement, such as silica, iron, lime etc. An extremely hard and tough material, it consists of consolidated masses of sand deposited by moving water or by wind & thus having different level of Porosity, hardness & compressive strength. Largely the cementing material often determines the color of the rock, iron oxides causing reddish-brown or red sandstone, and the other materials producing white, yellowish, or grayish, Orange and even purple & greenish colors. The bright and contrasting colors in sandstones are the attributes of Iron oxides, manganese oxides and other impurities present in it. If you want to give a retro look to your kitchens, offices, homes or any other interior/exterior you can surely go for sandstone. The Indian sandstone tile gives a castle like environment around or something like the woods which would trigger your nostalgia. Sandstone is suitable for domestic and commercial use. Owing to their natural beauty, sandstones are used for interior as well as exterior decoration including flooring, paving, cladding walls and floors. Sandstone is especially useful for exterior cladding in sea shore buildings due to its acid & thermal resistant properties. Quarried sandstone can be cut, polished and carved for many uses. It serves as a common building material for larger structures, tombstones, monuments and roads. Because of its architectural properties, sandstone is used to churn out an enamoring range of handcrafted artifacts such as garden ornaments, sculptures and other decorative items. Other than the hardness & surface porosity of sandstones is also decisive in deciding suitability for applications for sandstone. Sandstone also creates beautiful interior living environments. It’s thermally neutral, remaining at ambient temperatures. Unlike artificial materials, it doesn’t “overreact” to heat or cold, and also doesn’t deteriorate as a result of thermal expansion and contraction. Owing to its natural beauty, sandstone rocks is used for interior as well as exterior decoration. The architectural properties of natural sandstone make it a suitable medium used to clad walls and floors and churn out an enamoring range of handcrafted artifacts such as garden ornaments, sculptures and other decorative items.

Limestone

Limestone is one of the most common types of rock found on the surface of the Earth. About 10% of the land surface of our planet is made of limestone or similar types of rock; while around 25% of the world’s population either live on or take their water from limestone. It is thought that 50% of all our oil and gas reserves are trapped in limestone buried beneath the surface. LIMESTONE is calcareous sedimentary rock composed of the mineral calcite (CaCO3), which upon calcination yields lime (CaO) for commercial use. In its broadest interpretation the term includes any calcareous material such as marble, chalk, travertine, tufa, limeshell, coral and marl each possessing different and distinct physical properties. In nature, the limestone bed is found to occur in varying purity, generally a part of the calcium molecules being replaced by magnesium tending towards magnesium limestone or dolomitic limestone. Limestone with more than10% of mineral dolomite is termed dolomite limestone, and that with 5 to 10%, magnesium limestone.

Limestone is a beautiful stone and is available in many different colors and shades ranging from white, cream, tones of blues, greys, tans and even dark blacks which occurs when there is a high content of organic material. When yellows and browns are prominent there is a high content of iron oxides. Strong, hard wearing and sturdy, when properly sealed, Limestone can be used to enhance the look of any room in your home and is always the Interior Designers’ stone of choice.

Limestone is especially popular in architecture, and many landmarks around the world are made primarily of the material. Limestone is readily available and relatively easy to cut into blocks or more elaborate carving. It is also long-lasting and stands up well to exposure.

Slate

Slate is metamorphic rock, like the marble. However, instead of forming from a pre-existing limestone (like marble), slate is formed from the low-grade metamorphism of the sedimentary rock shale and volcanic ash deposited on sea floors. Slate, like shale (“mudstone”), is a very fined-grained rock of mostly microscopic clay minerals with some microscopic quartz and calcite. Slate can also contain some of the same minerals found in granite, which make some slates iridescent and/or hard. The alteration of shale by heat and pressure produces the pronounced partings (slaty cleavage) that give slate its characteristics. Like limestone and marble, the color comes from trace metals. The wild colors on most Chinese and Indian slates are the result of splitting the slate along natural layers, which exposes the metals to the atmosphere, and they oxidize (rust).

Slatestone

To understand the formation of Slate, we must first travel back in time a few billion years. As volcanic lava flowedm-green-rustic over the ground, superheated clay deposits mixed with ash. This mixture eventually dried in layers, much like shale but noticeably harder. Slate can be split into slabs, and those slabs can be split once again into thin sheets.
Slate has been used for a number of applications over the years. One common use is as a natural form of roof shingle.
Natural stone has been valued throughout the century for its unparalleled sculptural and architectural qualities. We at ANSI take pride in bringing out the best in this remarkable building material. Our unique quarry relationships and finishing processes result in products that are harder, non-absorbent and more consistent in thickness, for unparalleled performance and ease of installation. Unlike low quality shale and schist products that are quarried near the surface, the products quarried by us are an ancient material, derived from deeper deposits formed hundreds of millions of years ago and thus ensure more uniform quality as a whole.
Contrary to popular belief slate is possibly one of the lowest maintenance floors. It is very easy to clean and maintain, has resistance against chipping, abrasion and cracking while offering long life at a very affordable price.

The finished surface varies as dry tumbling provides the pebbles are polished/ smooth finish in comparison to the wet tumbled stone.

Granite

Granite is an igneous rock, which, during its development, remains in the form of liquid magma in the center of the Earth. Unlike lava, granite did not come to the surface. It remained trapped inside the earth where it slowly cooled and crystallized. Due to the extreme pressure within the Earth, and the absence of atmosphere, granite is formed very dense with no pores. Granite is infact a host of ingredients, including common minerals like feldspar, quartz and mica, and the proportions vary considerably from deposit to deposit. The major mineral component of granite is feldspar. Quartz, which is the hardest part of Granite (it ranges from 70% to 80% the density of a diamond) comprises only between 10-30% of the rock, whereas feldspar (potassium and sodium varieties) makes up 60-80%.
Granite comes in various colors varying from stark white to beiges, browns, reds, pinks, yellows, greens, blues, grays and blacks. Textures range from clear to coarse and crystalline to heavily veined. These natural materials were created in the earth many years ago by processes and conditions, which gave each of them varying properties and characteristics.
Granite is the most durable of the stone surfaces, which makes it the best choice for a worry-free countertop. It is extremely durable, stain resistant and easy to care for. It is chip resistant and is unlikely to crack or scratch during normal use.
